As Reclaim prepares to enter a new year, and new decade, we take a moment to reflect on the accomplishments of 2019, thus far!
In January, Reclaim had a complete structural makeover, starting with recruiting a brand new Board of Directors to help reach their advocacy, education, and fundraising goals! These Directors revamped Reclaim’s mission and core values to set this small organization up for great success. As Reclaim continues to grow, more opportunities for volunteers and board members will be available in 2020. If you’re interested in joining the Reclaim Team, fill out this quick questionnaire!
Throughout the first half of 2019, Reclaim continued to build relationships and name recognition in reproductive rights and progressive circles. Everything changed when Reclaim was contacted by the Detroit & Huron Valley Chapters of the Democratic Socialists of America. The DSA wanted Reclaim to be the recipient of the National Network of Abortion Funds Bowl-a-thon Fundraiser. We expected small contributions from each team; however, this collective effort raised $9,000 for Reclaim and the MI WIN Fund! The hard work of each individual and the success of this event allowed the MI WIN Fund to assist almost 180 people with $8,000 in abortion funding so far this year!
Reclaim was able to host their FIRST ANNUAL FUNDRAISER, Busting Stigma: A Burlesque Show. Over 200 supporters flocked to Detroit to see our brave storyteller, progressive vendors, intuitive tarot and palm readers, and phenomenally fabulous Burlesque performers! Reclaim SOLD OUT of raffle tickets and raised over $7,000 for our advocacy and education budget. Based on the success of this event, we are excited to see what the Roaring 20’s bring!
We know it’s our supporters (yeah, you!) that gave Reclaim so much to celebrate this year!
We also know that our donors support many amazing and important issues. 2020 is a VERY IMPORTANT ELECTION YEAR and Reclaim promises to give you all the information you need to vote pro-choice! However, Reclaim wants to remind you that small abortion funds like MI WIN depend on donations like yours! Make your final tax-deductible donations of the decade today!
